After purchasing new tires for your vehicle, use the old ones to make decorative stools that can be placed on your deck. When finished, you will have an attractive area to relax when you are spending time outdoors. 

Use The Following Materials

• automotive tires
• vinyl fabric
• stapler
• staples
• plywood
• circular saw
• measuring tape
• scissors
• foam cushioning
• utility knife
• thick rope
• power drill
• screws

Prepare The Bases

Wash each tire with soapy water and a scrub brush. Rinse them off with a garden hose. Cover each tire with rope. Begin by applying hot glue to the back of the rope with a glue gun. Press it down onto a tire, wrapping it all the way around. Continue covering the rubber until it is no longer visible. Do this with each tire.

Cut out circular pieces of plywood to place over the holes on each tire. One will be used as the bottom part of each stool. The other one will be used as the bottom part of the cushion that will be be placed on top of the stool. Make sure that each circle is slightly larger than the holes in each tire. Use a circular saw to complete this step.

Attach The Bottoms And Make Cushions

Attach the pieces of plywood that will be used as the bottom of each stool with a power drill and screws. Space out the screws evenly and insert them into the bottom of each tire. Create cushions for the stools with the remaining pieces of plywood. Cut out foam cushioning that is the same size as the plywood circles. Use a utility knife to cut out this material.

Place the cushioning on top of the vinyl fabric. Cover it with a plywood circle. Wrap the fabric around these items. Pull the fabric tightly, removing any wrinkles, and attach it to the base of the plywood with a staple gun. Continue working around the perimeter of the plywood until the fabric is attached securely. 

Connect The Cushions To The Stools

Connect the cushions to the top of each stool with a drill. Space out the screws and insert them through the fabric covered plywood. Place the stools outside on your deck. Keep them looking nice by wiping off the vinyl fabric with soapy water when it becomes dirty. The stools can be used throughout the year and will provide you and your family with a convenient area to sit when spending time outside.
